Getting Started

Let's start off by creating a new page. Click on Pages, create a new page and name it Login.

Symbols

The next step is to add Symbols, starting with the Navbar and then the footer. Due to the Navbar being positioned absolute, it's not taking up any space. To fix this, we'll push the content manually.

Container

To create a new Container, click on Body and then select Container under 'Layout'. Place the Container above the Footer. Give it a padding-top of 200px and padding-bottom of 100px. Now, select Body and give it a class of 'Body' (this will allow us to have the same background and the font).

Form

Now, we'll create a form inside the Container. To do so, select Container and choose 'Form Block' under 'Form'. When you click on the Form Block and then Form, you'll see the form fields. Currently, we've one for name and email.

Form Fields

In this step, we'll be creating a new form field. Firstly, we'll delete the name field because we don't need it. To add a new field, select 'Text Field' from under 'Form' and then select 'Field Label'. Place the Field Label and the Text Field above the Submit Button. Rename Field Label to 'Password'. Then, select the Text Field, go to Element Settings and change the 'Name' to Password. As for the placeholder, change it to 'Your Password'. Change the Text Type to 'Password'. For the Email field, set placeholder to 'Your Email'. Make sure to check the 'Required' option for both the fields.

Newsletter Form

Let's create a layout for the newsletter form. In Footer, select Newsletter and add a new Form Block element to it. Remove both the Text Field and the Field Label for the Name field. As for the Email field, remove the Field Label and add 'Your email' as the placeholder for it. Change the name from 'Email 2' to Email.

Mailchimp

Now, head over to Mailchimp and create an Audience. An Audience is a list of emails that we'll collect for our newsletter. Click on Manage Audience and then on Signup Forms. Select 'Embedded Forms' and then click on Unstyled. We only need a specific part but by default it selects all the code. So, copy the whole code, paste it in a text editor and then just choose the link in double quotes right after 'action='. Head back to Webflow, select the Newsletter Form Block and in the Action input field under settings, copy the link. Set the Method to 'Post' and check the 'Required' option. Lastly, click on Publish.

Styling the Text Field

Select the Form Block in the Footer and then click on the Form. ‎Go to style, select the 2nd option in Display i.e. flex. To style the Text Field, click on it and then add the 'input' class to it. Under Size, set Height to 40 and then under Borders, set the Radius to 10. Make sure to select 'X' for the Style. Now, in Box Shadow, set the Angle value to 180, distance to 1 and blur to 0. In Color, set A to 10.

Styling the Button

Start off by selecting the Submit Button and renaming it to 'Subscribe'. Set the Background Color to #3c11ee, the height to 40 and the Border Radius to 10. We need to add margin between the Text Field and the Button to make it look better. To do so, add a new class named 'Newsletter' to the Submit Button. Now, add a margin of 10 to the left.

Reusing Classes

The input fields as well as the submit buttons are going to have the same styling. We'll be reusing classes here to avoid repetition. Select the Input Fields in the Form located inside Container and add the class 'input' to both. Select Submit Button and add the class of 'Submit Button' to it. Rename the Button Text as 'Sign in'.

Responsiveness

Select the Newsletter Form Block and add a margin-top of 10px to it. To make the Container Form Block responsiveness, select it and add a left as well as right margin of 20px. Now, for the Footer to be adaptive, select the Footer and do the same. To make it look less congested, choose 'Vertical' as the Direction and align it to the Center. To have more spacing, select the Text Block and add a top-margin of 30px to it.

Conclusion

In this section, we learnt how to create forms and connect them to a third-party app such as Mailchimp. We also learnt how to add styling and make these responsive according to the screen size. We really hope you enjoyed this section.
