Getting Started

Head to ProtoPie and create a new Pie. Import the Home artboard @3x. Then, create a new scene and import the Card artboard @3x.

Background

Start off by creating a Rectangle. Place it underneath the 3 cards and rename it to Background. Set the height and the width to 100%. Set the fill to #EFEAF4. By default, set the opacity to 0.

Animation

Select Card 1 and add the Tap trigger. Click on Card 2, add Move and set Y to 100. Do the same for Card 3. Select Background and add the Opacity trigger, set opacity to 100. Now, click on the Avatar and add Move. Change the Position to Move By and set X to -100. Follow the same steps for Search Icon. Finally, do the same for the Add button but set X to 100 instead of -100.

Range

Click on Card 3 and add the Range trigger. Instead of Scroll, select Y as your object property. Choose the second option and in the input box, type out 100. This sets a condition to do something when Y of Card 3 is either less than or equal to 100.

Jump

To jump to the second scene, add Jump trigger inside Range. Select Scene 2 as the scene you'd like to jump to.

Card Animation

We'll start this step by adding a Start trigger. Now, select Done and set the opacity to 0. Do the same for Button, Card 2 and Card 3. Select Card 2 and then Card 3, set Y to 85 for both. Set start delay to 0 and add a Reset trigger for all the layers we mentioned earlier. For Done and Button, set the duration to 0.5. As for Cards 2 & 3, select Spring in Easing and set the Tension to 200. To fix the Flash issue when you jump, click on Start and then select Start With Jump in Options for Multiple Scenes.

Tap

Select the Done button and add a Tap trigger. Copy all the Opacity and Move responses from Start, paste those inside Tap. Set the duration to 0.3. Now, select Move of Card 3 and set Y to 84 so it doesn't conflict with the Move in Start.

Range

Click on Card 3 and add the Range trigger. Instead of Scroll, choose Y. Just like we did in Scene 1, choose the second option and enter 84 in the input field. Add a Jump response and select Scene 1 as the scene you'd like to jump to.

Reset Scene

You'll notice that scene isn't being reset when you jump back and forth, it stays the same. To resolve this issue, go to Scene 1, select Jump and make sure to check "Reset the selected scene". This fixes the issue in the Scene 2. Now, for Scene 1, add the Start trigger. Then, add the Reset response to Card 2, Card 3, Background, Avatar, Search Icon and the Add button. Finally, select start and make sure to check "Restart Every Time".

Conclusion

In this section we learnt how to use the range so that we can detect values of animations to see whether it's completed or not. ProtoPie is an extremely powerful tool that gives you the power to create high-fidelity prototypes. In the next section, we'll learn how to detect the mouse position and use it to create a very cool parallax effect.
